The Competition
On Wednesday 18th September 2024, we took two schools across the UK on a trip to the Arctic. We explored the question, ‘What is so cool about the Arctic?’.
In addition to the many and varied activities completed during the day, pupils were challenged to create an igloo using only a base template and a box of sugar cubes provided.
Our mini explorers and expert igloo constructers have now submitted their unique igloos for judging. Please cast your vote by commenting your favourite below, before the end of the day, Friday the 27th of September. The winning igloo will receive some exciting educational goodies from Wicked Weather Watch.
For more information about our virtual Arctic adventure, head to Emma Espley’s blog post, where she recounts the day in more detail.

Which design gains your vote? Add a comment below, stating who you think deserves to win and why.
Liskeard Hillfort 5 and 7 look pretty robust and roomy. I think Liskeard Hillfort 1 might just pip the post for my vote though; the grand entrance provides a very warm welcome.
I choose Liskeard Hillfort 1. The entrance looks welcoming.
Definitely has to be number 1
I choose 8, roomy but walls are thick with a small entrance.
Number 1 I like the smiley face on the cube.
Number 1 for me! It looks sturdy as well as homely.
I think it has to be number 1! It looks very welcoming and built strong!
Im voting liskeard hillfort 1. It looks very homely and the snowman is a nice touch.
I like no.1 because it’s made to look realistic with the snow in the entrance and a lovely welcome from the smiley face.
I like the height of Liskeard Hillfort 3 & 6 – I wouldn’t bump my head! Liskeard Hillfort 2 looks like it would have plenty of room inside which is definitely a benefit and Liskeard Hillfort 7 looks very sturdy which is essential in a blizzard! Liskeard Hillfort 1 has a lot of these strengths plus the curved entrance would keep out the wind so it gets my winning vote.
Number 8 looks cosy
