A Message From Our Founder

A Message From Wicked Weather Watch's Founder, Sir David Hempleman-Adams

I write to share the news that Better Planet Education, a climate change education charity with the same mission as Wicked Weather Watch, is taking over our resources and educational activities, and in May 2025 Wicked Weather Watch will cease to operate as an independent charity.

Wicked Weather Watch was born in 2009 out of a passion to connect children with the realities of climate change — especially in the Arctic — and to empower them with the knowledge and inspiration to take action. Over the years, we’ve reached over 31,000 young people with creative, impactful climate education, and sparked vital conversations in classrooms across the UK.

This has only been possible because of you — our supporters, volunteers, trustees, teachers, explorers, partners, funders, and friends. Your time, energy, belief and generosity have been at the heart of everything we’ve achieved. I am deeply grateful.

The trustees have taken the decision that the most effective and impactful way to continue the work and spirit of Wicked Weather Watch is for Better Planet Education to pick up the baton and we are delighted that the good work will continue and reach a wider audience.

Better Planet Education’s goal is to empower young people to form their own opinions on environmental actions, with an overarching goal to inspire future generations to prioritise environmental stewardship and embrace sustainable lifestyles.

I have no doubt that the spirit of Wicked Weather Watch — the curiosity, courage and commitment it inspired — will continue to ripple outwards in classrooms, communities and future careers.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

With warmest wishes and deepest appreciation,

Sir David Hempleman-Adams

Founder, Wicked Weather Watch
