On Friday 5th Jan, Yr 2 children at Linden Primary school had an exciting start to the new term. Local explorer and WWW volunteer Hazel Richards popped into the school to tell 60 children all about her experiences of Antarctica to help launch their new topic for the term.

Talking about her visit, Hazel said “the children were a joy with the questions they asked and the questions they answered! They sat for over 1 1/2 hours full of enthusiasm and interest, keen to try all my explorer gear on…I know the teachers took photos and all said they learnt something new!”

Ruth Williams, Yr 2 teacher was delighted with the visit: “The children (and staff) absolutely loved it! As part of our follow up we have written a fictional newspaper article about Hazel’s visit [main pic] and created our own Newspaper reports about Shackleton.”
