Arctic sea ice reaches its minimum each September. According to NASA, September Arctic sea ice is now declining at a rate of 13.3% per decade. More ice is melting away during the summers and less new ice forming in the winters.

The September sea ice extent, along with global temperatures, are the two vital signs that NASA monitor to track the changes to our planet and the impact of climate change. While sea ice is declining, global temperatures are rising and our fragile planet is changing.

Why not highlight the critical changes taking place in the Arctic by doing something around #GivingTuesday to support WWW, helping us to inspire and equip the next generation to deal with the changes that we will all face?

Fundraise and help us to reach our goal of doubling the number of schools we’re working with by the end of 2018.

Why not raise awareness of the declining sea ice in the Arctic at the same time as raising money for WWW? Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Cotswold 113 Triathlon
  • Donate 13% of your salary (daily/weekly/monthly)
  • Donate 13% of the savings you made on Black Friday and Cyber Monday!
  • Walk the No 13 bus route in London
  • Wash 13 cars
  • Walk/bike/scoot for 13 days
  • Ask all your friends to put £13 into a pot
  • Get 13 friends together to take part in an event or arrange a fundraiser and get your company to match fund what you raise
  • Run a half marathon (13.1 miles). For the really adventurous why not consider the Polar Night Half Marathon which takes place in Tromsø, Norway, at the beginning of January, during the Polar night-period, when the sun does not rise above the horizon or the Midnight Sun Run in Reykjavik, Iceland and launch your fundraising page on #GivingTuesday!

We’re here to help!

If you, your school or company are interested in raising funds for WWW then call or email us for more ideas and to let us know what support you would like: | 07811 265156

School Competition!

Get your whole school involved in raising money for WWW for your chance to win a FREE Arctic themed day at your school.

Children from the school that raises the most funds will get to explore the Arctic and climate change through mediums such as dance, drama and giant Arctic maps! And of course, the highlight of the day will be one of our team of Arctic Adventurers talking about their expedition to the ‘Land of the Midnight Sun’.

To enter, simply let us know at the start of your fundraising what you are up to by emailing with “#GivingTuesday Schools Comp” in the subject. Then make sure all donations are sent to us at WWW by the end of January 2018, and we’ll announce the winning school in February 2018.
