7 year old Evie Ahern has taken on a really big challenge for #GivingTuesday – to cycle 133km (or a massive 89 times around her local bike track!) – to highlight the critical rate of Arctic sea ice shrinkage.
According to NASA, September Arctic sea ice is now declining at a rate of 13.3% per decade. Evie is cycling 10km for every percentage of Arctic sea ice decline! All funds raised will go to the WWW schools programme.
The cycling has been hard work for Evie, especially at this time of year with the darkness and cold/rainy weather, and hindered by the bike track being frequently booked out! But Evie has really persisted and this week smashed her way through the halfway barrier!
She’s working really hard to reach her target distance over the next two weeks, in time for #GivingTuesday on 28 November. Here at Wicked Weather Watch we think that Evie is fantastic. If you do too, you can support her to complete this challenge by visiting her Virgin Giving Money page http://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/EvieAhern.
Thank you, Evie, for being a superstar!
